Ruthie, earlier [With Limited Time, a Sketchbook Is Handy], you describe sketching as something you do when you're bored or can't get to the studio to paint. I've thought of it as a trial run for the "big guy," or as a study, in the Da Vinci sense, preparing a detail for a complex painting. Although I know that no two artists are alike, I wonder whether you, too, sometimes use it for practice or as part of the process of creating a painting.
