The visual artists of Trinity Episcopal Church were involved in a second arts festival during the weekend of April 20-22. In order to maintain my sanity while sitting with my work, I paint. Since the space was temporary, I devised a way to show the small pieces with a minimum of hanging. Those are orange Home Depot buckets secreted behind white pillowcases, bricks, and boards. Down on the Farm
I had a fun time planning this one. Plotting which animals to use as well as how the border would work was an enjoyable process.
Foxes in the Chicken Coop
The foxes were a given, but I couldn't figure out what else to add. And then I came up with the chicken wire idea.

I completed Upper Story during the early 1980s and it received Best in Show in an exhibition in Knoxville and became part of the permanent collection of the museum there. From the end of January 2012 to mid-April it is back on display in Liquid Light a retrospective watercolor exhibition at the Knoxville Museum of Art. I took this photograph of it with my iPhone while the painting was displayed framed and under glass.
